Overcoming Corruption with the Assistance of Enlightened and Talented Servants of Peace

Today, in this serene salon for world peace, our discussion is likely to include a few words about corruption.

As you are probably well aware, dear guest, people everywhere have a right to complain about corruption, even if they are sometimes not quite sure what it is.

I do hope you are not feeling too uncomfortable here.  I do my best to make the experience of this salon as pleasant for my guests as possible.  That is why all members of my staff are very well trained.

There are also many volunteers here today.  I always ensure the staff are easily distinguished from the volunteers.  The latter are mostly still in training and therefore liable to make a few mistakes from time to time.

It is, of course, easier to forgive an innocent mistake than it is to forgive malice.  Any situation in which people feel uncomfortable first requires their own acknowledgement of that discomfort.  This applies whether they find the experience to be physically unpleasant or psychologically unpleasant, or both. 

If you have any complaints about your experiences here today, do address them to any member of my staff as soon as possible.  Please do not embarrass any of the volunteers by addressing complaints directly to them.  Such a situation is likely to make them feel exceedingly uncomfortable.

All members of my staff have been properly trained to deal fairly with complaints.  That is why I often describe them as servants of art, servants of enlightenment and/or servants of peace, depending on the situation.  Have you received suitable training as a servant of peace?

In many situations in the 21st century, inadequately trained, yet officially employed persons are expected to behave as though they are competent.  This is not only unfair to them and anyone they meet, it is also a form of corruption on the part of their employers.

When employers are corrupt, there is little anyone can do to improve a society unless and until corrupt persons are no longer given the opportunity to employ anyone.  If you are an employer, directly or indirectly, how to you know you are not corrupt?

All good employers have been trained to prevent corruption.  They thereby become servants of peace themselves.
All inadequately trained persons require adequate guidance and supervision.  If you are absolutely certain you are not corrupt, how are you providing mentoring at present?  How do you know that your protégés and protégées are not causing unnecessary discomfort to anyone?

A strong, enlightened leader always expresses equanimity, in private as well as in public.  This is easier to achieve when one's protégés and protégées have the ability to express equanimity themselves.

How do you express yourself as an enlightened leader?

As you may be aware, Queen Adelaide had her birthday a few days ago.   Her Majesty is certainly an enlightened servant of peace and therefore an enlightened leader.  Her upbringing and early experiences provided her with much of the training she required.

Queen Adelaide always behaved with dignity, decorum and maturity.  After all, husband was only two years younger than her mother.  

In fact, all three person celebrate their birthdays this month.  Queen Adelaide also frequently reflects on the fact that her husband and mother permanently entered the ethereal realm within a few weeks of each other in 1837. 

How do you reflect upon the transitions and transformations in your existence?

Queen Adelaide was aware that when political responses to discomfort have not been adequately addressed, there is likely to be corruption occurring.  That corruption can easily lead to violence.

We both agree that every talented, successful person has a duty to mentor other talented persons in the knowledge, skills and values with which to overcome corruption.  

How do you ensure you help your protégés and protégées to feel comfortable within the mentoring relationship?

It is so much easier to supply everyone with proper training than to require talented persons to waste their time in supervising untalented ones.  One of the main purposes of providing training is to identify and support the conscientious expression and development of talent.

First of all, volunteers are trained to become satisfactory servants of art.  If they appear to have leadership abilities, they are supplied with further training.

Through that process the volunteers may become satisfactory servants of enlightenment.  Those servants obviously make a significant contribution to knowledge and understanding in the world.  They may even make a significant contribution to science and politics.

The reason why initial training requires all persons to be volunteers is to establish the maturity, conscientiousness, dignity and decorum of the trainees.  Adults, in a free society, do not participate in compulsory education.  They can freely to choose to participate or not.  The requirements of employment, however, are different.  There are compulsory requirements of knowledge, skills and values in most forms of worthwhile employment.

For many years, I have offered my services as one of your ethereal mentors, especially whilst you are a volunteer.  I have done so, of course, in the cause of world peace.  After becoming a servant of art and progressing to become a servant of enlightenment, you may be eligible to train as a servant of peace.

As the head of state of one of the Enlightened Nations, one of my primary duties is to tackle corruption and other potential causes of tomorrow's troubles.  I do so mainly by setting the standard every other head of state, within and outside the Enlightened Nations, should have the capacity to follow.

During paid employment, whether as an employee or as some (other) sort of contractor, an individual will be expected to do a job, on a financial and legal basis, to meet a particular expectation.  Whether earning money directly or indirectly through the financial services industry or not, there is an expectation that the work will be done to a sufficient standard, otherwise there is no point in paying anyone to do anything.  This is why it is necessary for all employers to implement measures to assess and maintain quality.

Complaints require clear, honest communication if they are to be addressed properly.  The world of tomorrow could quite easily be one of peace and peace rather than war and peace if corruption was properly prevented.  

Under an enlightened constitution, a head of state is meant to be a strong and enlightened cultural leader.  That leadership involves easing distress and overcoming egocentrism in order to show how to transcend conflict justifiably and resolve it through peaceful arts.  Queen Adelaide supplied more than enough enlightened leadership to cover the inadequacies of her spouse.

The duties of enlightened leaders are obviously easier in the cultural sphere than they are through political experiences.  As usual, there are few enlightened leaders in the political sphere anywhere in the world in the 21st century. 
  As you tackle corruption over the coming months, I hope you will enjoy the ongoing support of many enlightened mentors.  Do you require additional training to become a competent servant of peace?  All servants of peace become mentors themselves.  They also participate in mutual mentoring.
  The processes through which unenlightened, inadequately trained and possibly corrupt persons are able to gain political power are themselves corrupt.  The failure to remedy the problem is itself often a form of corruption.  People with significant political power are therefore the wrong persons to expect to solve the problem.

This is why literature for peace is so important.  Through literature, ways to overcome corruption can be examined and expressed for the benefit of everyone.

Writers of literature for peace usually participate in reciprocal mentoring.  They attempt to provide guidance on ways to improve the world in theory, helping readers to be more aware of the discomforts they feel and how they may address those discomforts.  The readers, for their part, are expected to assist the writer to improve the theories.

In a similar way, I supply invitations to members of the public, such as yourself, to provide you with an opportunity to attend my serene, ethereal salon for world peace.  My expectation is that you will leave here with a clear understanding of the difference between strong, enlightened leadership and loud corruption.
